How Much Does Jewellery Photography Cost in 2026?

By Jewellery Photoshoot Published Updated 6 min read

If you are pricing a shoot, the headline number is rarely the real cost. Here is how to think about it.

What drives the price

  1. Number of pieces and images per piece. Setup time is spread across images, so more shots per piece lowers the per-image cost.
  2. Type of shot. White background is cheapest. Styled, macro and on-model shots cost more.
  3. Models, hair and make-up, and location. These multiply the cost of an on-model shoot.
  4. Retouching. Jewellery retouching (dust, reflections, stone colour) is skilled work and often billed separately.
  5. Usage rights. Web only is cheaper than print, billboards or paid ads.
  6. Turnaround. Rush jobs cost more.

The simple formula

True cost per image = (shoot fee + retouching + models + shipping and insurance) ÷ number of final images

Include the time you spend packing, sending and approving. Then compare this with AI and DIY.

What AI costs per image

Jewellery Photoshoot uses credits where one credit = one generated image. The yearly plan is $59.99 for 30 credits a month (360 a year) and the monthly plan is $14.99 for 40 credits a month. If you use the full allowance, that is roughly $0.17 per image on yearly and $0.37 on monthly. Top-up packs are available if you need more in a month.

Those figures assume you use all your credits. If you use half, the effective price per image doubles, which is still far below most per-image photographer quotes, but we would rather you see the real math.

Use the photoshoot cost calculator. Enter your product count, images per product and your photographer’s per-image quote to see monthly and yearly differences.

A hybrid approach many brands use

  • Photographer for 5 to 10 hero images per collection.
  • AI for everything else: catalogue variants, social posts, Story formats and seasonal refreshes.

That keeps the premium look where it matters and removes the bottleneck everywhere else. See AI vs hiring a photographer for a deeper comparison.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a jewellery photographer charge?

Prices vary a lot by country, experience, retouching and whether models are involved, and are usually quoted per image, per product or per day. Ask for itemised quotes from two or three photographers so you can compare on a per-image basis.

How much does AI jewellery photography cost per image?

With Jewellery Photoshoot, one credit equals one generated image. At the full allowance, the yearly plan works out to roughly $0.17 per image and the monthly plan roughly $0.37, and many months you use fewer images than the allowance, so your effective cost per image can be higher.

Is it worth hiring a photographer for jewellery?

For hero campaigns, high-value collections and print, a skilled photographer is still worth it. For catalogues, social posts and new arrivals, AI studio and on-model shots can cover volume at a fraction of the cost.
